To register to vote you must be a US citizen and 18 years of age or older on election day. To vote on certain local issues, you must reside within the city limits of Odessa. To vote in an election, an individual must be registered to vote by the fourth Wednesday prior to the election. General Elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April every year. Filing for elected official candidacy is done at the City Clerk's office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, at City Hall located at 125 S 2nd St, Odessa, Missouri. The filing period begins the 16th Tuesday before the election and closes the 11th Tuesday before the election. City offices are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and days designated as holidays by the City. Candidates for Mayor must be at least 25 years old, a registered voter, and a resident of the City of Odessa for one year prior to his/her election to office. Aldermen must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter, a resident of the city for one year prior to his/her election to office, and reside in the Ward that he/she is representing. During the filing period, please note that City Hall office hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. City Hall will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays as well as holidays including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
Qualified persons wanting to file a Declaration of Candidacy for elective office must do so in person in the City Clerk's Office at City Hall.
Candidates who wish to withdraw may do so by filing their notice of withdrawal with the City Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on the 11th Tuesday before the election. The filing fee is not refundable in the case of withdrawal of a candidate.
